David Lucas

Associate Director for Hardware and Work Package Leader for Ion Trap Node Engineering, Networked Quantum Information Technologies (NQIT), University of Oxford

David Lucas leads NQIT’s work on ion trap node engineering and is the NQIT Associate Director for Hardware. Alongside Professor Andrew Steane, he co-leads the Oxford ion trap quantum computing research group that has realised a full set of one- and two-qubit operations with world-leading performance far surpassing fault-tolerance thresholds. He has a wide range of expertise in experimental quantum physics, including precision measurements, cold atoms and trapped ions.
