The Oxford Trust
The Oxford Trust is an independent charitable trust that was founded in 1985 by entrepreneurs Sir Martin and Lady Audrey Wood, co-founders of Oxford Instruments. Our mission is to encourage the pursuit of science and enterprise.
The Trust runs activities across three connected programmes – the 3Es – enterprise, education and engagement.
While the Trust focuses on the enterprise strategy, our education and engagement programmes are delivered through Science Oxford, which we founded in 2006.
Our enterprise programmes support economic growth by encouraging innovation. We own the Oxford Centre for Innovation (OCFI) in central Oxford, and help local science and tech start-ups by providing flexible office and networking spaces. We also create and support a wide range of Oxfordshire-based projects that put science and enterprise at the heart of our region, such as Venturefest Oxford. theoxfordtrust.co.uk
Our Science Oxford education programmes inspire young people about science, technology, engineering and maths. We show young people that science can be cool, can lead to an amazing career, and can change lives.
We run a programme called STEM World of Work, which enables secondary school students to engage with local STEM employers in an increasingly meaningful way through their secondary schooling; increasing their knowledge of the STEM sector, developing skills and encouraging them to consider STEM careers and opportunities in their local area. We’d love your business to get involved. Go to scienceoxford.com/schools/secondary-schools/ for more information.
We also encourage people of all ages to engage with how science impacts their lives. We run a vibrant year-round programme of family and adult events, including interactive workshops, theatre shows, film nights, talks and summer holiday science camps. scienceoxford.com/events/
