ZapGo Ltd (Zap&Go) is a high technology business founded in Oxford in 2013. We have developed a solution to the problems encountered by all the current generation of rechargeable appliances, devices and vehicles: slow charging. Called Carbon-Ion (C-Ion) in contrast to Lithium-ion, this technology is based on carbon nano-materials including the ‘wonder-material’ graphene. The result is ultra-fast charging – in 5 minutes or less. The technology and a growing patent portfolio is in part derived from Oxford University, and in part developed independently by Zap&Go’s own scientists. The company is at capability stage with a number of prototype demonstrators. Our first commercial product is due to enter the production phase in 2017. The company is working on fast charging solutions for the following products, all chargeable in 5 minutes or less:

  • A cordless power tool that reduces charge time from 30 minutes to 2 minutes
  • An electric scooter that reduces the charge time from 12 hours to 5 minutes
  • A rapid ‘jump starter’ that can exploit the residual charge in a dead car battery to restart the vehicle
  • An autonomous airport transfer vehicle capable of recharging in 35 seconds
  • A mobile phone case that reduces the charge time from 2 hours to 4 minutes
