Schoenfeld Films

Our film and TV productions used new digital formats to enable untried talent, fresh approaches and original stories. Our BAFTA nominated documentary ‘A Sarajevo Diary’ as well as our feature film ‘My Brother Tom’ formed part of the digital revolution in filmmaking, sold around the world, won awards at many film festivals and kick-started the international careers of debut filmmakers and talent involved.

This led to workshops and masterclasses across Europe, Asia and the Caribbean, and later to designing industry focused, active learning courses for SAE Institute, London South Bank and Oxford Brookes Universities. A student-negotiated film MA developed for Raindance/Staffordshire University and delivered mostly online eventually became one of the largest UK postgraduate film courses.

The aim is now to design and run innovative online courses that enable a wide range of globally distributed learners to manage their future creative work independently and effectively as part of a community. Drawing on negotiated and reflective learning approaches, we use widely available digital tools for teaching delivery that fit in with, and develops, 21st century portfolio careers – including for the Screenwriting Course at Oxford’s Department for Continuing Education.

Building on this successful campus-based model and the previous experience delivering learning online through web conferences, tutorials and social media discussions, we are now developing and Online Screenwriting Academy and other creative courses.
