Plasma App

Plasma App Ltd has developed a novel material, CALIB, which is poised to revolutionise Li-ion battery manufacturing. CALIB is manufactured with our proprietary plasma deposition technology (called virtual cathode deposition or VCD). A battery cell with the CALIB was tested by Cambridge University and showed a near doubling of capacity and a capacity retention of 90% at 1700 cycles (industry standard is 80% at 300 cycles).

Now Plasma App is working on optimisation and scaling of a new product – a functional electrode which can be slotted into existing Gigafactory-like production lines, offering an immediate performance increase without requiring a wholesale redesign of the cell.

Plasma App is leading a UK government funded project to develop a prototype of electrical vehicle battery cell using CALIB anode in collaboration with Cambridge University, and Johnson Matthey PLC (LSE: JMAT).
