Hip Impact Protection

HIP was founded in 2009 to take advantage of a new type of impact absorbing technology to provide a new type of hip protector that was both more effective and more comfortable than any other, as there are over 300,000 falls that require emergency admissions in the UK every year and c.100,000 hip fractures. A quarter of all emergency ambulance calls concern falls for the elderly. With an increasingly elderly population, the numbers are increasing every year and no other solution promises to make any impact on either falls or fractures. William Beckett, its founder, has been an entrepreneurial inventor, developer, marketer and seller of advanced hi-tech products to B2B and the consumer market for 40 years, both in the UK and internationally. He uses a network of reliable sub-contractors rather than hiring in-house as it is much less expensive for a company developing products. All the intellectual property rights are owned by the company and include the US and UK patents that were granted in the last two years, plus the application for a patent in Europe that is still awaiting consideration by the European Patent Office. HIP also owns the Fall-Safe® and Fall-Safe Assist® trademarks which have been registered around the world. HIP already have a distribution network world-wide for its hip protectors including the NHS Supply Chain, Lloyds Betterlife in the UK with distributors in France, Germany, BeNeLux, Ireland, USA and Canada, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.

What is your innovation?

Fall-Safe Assist is designed to prevent falls, monitor activity, prevent long-lies, prevent hip fractures and provide research data on falls to identify common causes.
